i have the same problem when i shift into reverse and it clunks. it is a universal off of the transfer case i had the truck on a lift and it showed to have play and be worn and the no-smoke means non-tampered with truck and a clean running diesel.

thanks.

was that the rear ujoint? then there's a middle and front? ill get under the truck today and check it out.

i checked today and if you move the rear driveshaft there is slight movement. and a noise when you move it which sounds as if it's from the ujoint that goes to the rear axle. this is with the truck in park. they all appear ok. although i'm not sure how much you can tell just by looking?

also my front leafs are almost flat compared to the rears. is this normal?

I would wait for a 91.5 or newer because of the intercooler...and as for power, it will be a dog. You can eliminate that with a pump tweaking and an intake though. As for the trans., it will need to be beefed up before something goes seriously wrong. i paid 5500 for one w/ a lift, new tires, pump mods, rust free, 226xxx, and a clean title... so work w/ him a lil bit but i think it sounds like a nice truck.

Hey, I actually bought it. It's a 91.5 to and has an intercooler. What can I do with the tranny for a grand or less, anything?

I just ordered the kdp kit from genosgarage, best price I found.

Does anyone have a link for a clear side marker for a 91 w250? One of mine is broken, so I figured I'd replace it. To clarify, I'm talking about the marker on the fender, not the front turn signal light.

All I can find is amber ones on eBay and Google search. I know they have them because I've seen pictures. Thanks guys.

hey, glad to see you finally found one. as for your problems my oil guage always moves from about 1/2 while on the gas to just over 1/4 on the guage when stopped in gear idleing i dont know what causes this and i dont know if it is bad or not. i also get the parking break light on i have heard its common and almost all first gens that do it. the other thing ive noticed is when my truck gets warm and its hot outside like 95* when im driving my voltage sits there around 15 volts but then when i get to a stop light it drops to like 10.4 volts and the idle drops down very low. i havent figured that out eathier. but still that little first gen of mine will pull more weight then my fathers 06 powerjoke that is chipped and blew a headgasket right next to me goign up cabbage hill in oregon.

hey. thanks, bud. mine does about the same. I've also noticed that my temp gauge never goes over half, but if its been sitting for two hours, or sometimes more it gets up to temp. way fast than the first start of the day. i dont get the parking light, that one works right. i get the anti-lock brake light stay on before starting. but only sometimes. ive noticed my volt gauge twitches a little bit sometimes, but i think this is common to. hahah, right on. your truck looks nice.

yeah, im not real worried about the bouncing needle or the oil pressure guage cus i have digital ones on my pillar so i can check what they really are doing whenever i want. and i get both parking and anti lock on when i start it and anti lock whenever i touch the breaks and if i have had the parking break on if i dont reach down and pull the pedal all the way out then my parking break light will stay on too. im gunna put a spring on there that will pull it all the way back when it is released. and i definatly need to post some updated pics of my truck cus i painted the grill and letters and have stacks now and a black tool box and i am painting all the trim and fender flares as we speak . it looks alot nicer then it did. i also got me some fancy digital waste of money guages just cus, money that could have probably bought me a new turbo but it looks better then all my buddies who have full sweep guages that arent very bright or easy to read so i like emm

i need to get gauges. i think ill go with mechanical autometer. unless you'd reccomend different? ive seen the autometers with the blue backlight, theyre super bright.

also, what is the tube behind the front axle? breather tube? ive noticed a slight oil drip from it after it was parked. seems to be very small amount and this is the first ive noticed of it. is this normal?

for guages i would go with isspro ev2 guages. google them and see how you like the styling of them and theyre one of the top brands of guages.

ooh and yes it was the u-joint i had my truck on a 4 post lift at school and with no stress on the drive line the drive shaft had alot of play and i put it into reverse on the lift and the universal actually burnt out all the needle bearings inside so the caps are not tight on the joint wich allows play in the drive shaft.
