Everyone that tells you a P pump is better is not taking into account how most folks drive a diesel powered rig. The ve is by far the king of low rpm torque and throttle response like you need in a 4x4, P pumps are better at high RPM power but can't match a ve for bottom end grunt OMHORocky

Yeah when I talked to the guy at Ford cummins he said to also go with the VE pump...He said unless I was building a high horsepower motor for racing, The Ve would be better for a stock engine and all around driving,being a daily driver for better fuel mileage and all..The guy Im getting the pump from used has tested it,Its just is leaking where somebody used silicone instead of replacing a gasket on it..I looked up the rebuild kit and they are only $20...So for $150 for the pump and the rebuild kit.I cant beat it,and while im in there ill replaced the fuel pin and put in the better governor spring..Itll eventually be built.

Just an update to this thread,,,,,Well From the guy in AR that ive been buying parts from I have everything I need and have half the engine together and rebuilt with cummins rings,bearings and other parts. I went with the factory setup with the stock VE pump, And a 91head with the 7mm injectors. I have an M&H fuel pin,dynamic timing kit and 4000rpm spring to go into the pump along with a bosch rebuild kit for the pump. Its getting there piece by piece as I clean and paint and rebuild it. So thanks for everyones help..Mike

Im not planning to rev it up that high. The 4000 spring was like $10 more than the 3200 spring,SO I figured why not. I would hope Id never have to rev it that high.Thanks Mike
