Default Getrag noise

After I installed a 366 spring my Getrag makes quite a bit of noise under load above 2100 rpm and beyond. Some people here have said that Getrags are noisy but this is my first one and haven't driven another to compare. How noisy are these things? I want to know if I should tear into it or if it "normal" for one of these. By the way, its more than likely a bearing rattle, not whining.

Yes it is overfilled. 5 liters of Royal Purple Sychromax. The trans is quiet below 2100rpm under load and if I accelerate slowly past 2100, the noise never comes. So it is load dependant.

Noises are the the nature of these beasts. Engine, trans, road noise, vibration are all way above typical contemporary vehicles. I wouldn't worry about it until it become obvious something starts to come apart, if that ever actually happens.

Remote noise troubleshooting on the Internet is an exercise in futility.

Mine just started doing the same thing. Anything above 2100 at full throttle and it sounds like its going to come apart. I was told when it starts making those noises it was time for a rebuild. Something about the shafts whipping around due to excessive wear in the bearings.

Yes, it sounds like we have exactly the same problem.

Its most likely the little tapper bearing on the end of the main shaft getting loose. If these trannys arent set up with the proper preload then bearing life is greatly reduced.
