Was thinking about those bolts also.....mine weren't tight when the KDP was pegged.
Good luck....

This just happened to me last night. Took out my BRAND Fing NEW hybrid 40 turbo. Literally. Brand new. I had just put it on. the turbo has 0 miles on it, and it now is toast.

Called autozone and an oil pump is $300!

I'm surprised that these bolts aren't more of a known issue, yet everyone who has a Cummins knows about the KDP fix.

Go on ebay and you can get a like-new OEM pump for around $50 shipped.

As far as my engine, no updates for now, because over winter break my friend gave me an insane deal on one of my dream cars (BMW E36 M3). I couldn't afford that and the Cummins rebuild, so that'll have to wait until summer, when I'll also be doing the axles and suspension.

Upon further inspection of mine. It was not due to KDP or the 4 bolts. The oil pump siezed, and the motor continued to power through, ripping the idle gear, causing the cast plate to shear.
