Default what is a good intake(cheap budget)

I have a 89 that the p.o. thought is would be cool to stick a cone filter on the end of the stock hose and remove all of the stock housing. you have to be carefull when you hit a bumb or it will fall off, so what I am trying to say what is a cheaper good air filter. all of my friends say go with aem or banks just because they see it on the back of some pulling trucks, homade, bhaf, or name brand I want the advice from the people that run it everyday sorry for this long post i just don't want to fork out $300 to $500 on a air system
and how big of pipe

tubing size depends on the turbo, K&N came out with a universal kit. it comes with a very funny shaped continuous tube with multiple bends, you cut it up to use what ever bends you need. i think that tube is 85 bucks by itself. that doesnt include filter. i've seen ONE website with our vehicle specific filter system. it wasnt cheap right... around 300.
go to intakehoses.com, get yourself a BHAF and what ever elbows, tubing you need from there. it'll be cheaper than buying a pre fabbed intake and it wont be much different.

The stock intake is good for up to over 200hp - at least 300 if you increase the size of the cold air tube and hole it connects to on the valence. And it's a true cold air intake. The stock filter is rated at 450cfm - plenty of air until you go crazy with other engine mods.

Pick up a cheap stocker off eBay and be happy.

i have a 91 dodge wiith the basic mods done to it and as far as the cold air intake i run a afe intake system and your exhaust depends on the turbo size but i come off with 3.5 inch straight all the way to the rear and my truck puts out plenty of power so im happy with the afe and it ran me about 250 so check that out
