Its a typical first gen gauge man. My coolant temp gauge does the same thing.

I wonder if the alternator could be going T.U.. Have you checked to see if all the wires are free of corrosion? and tight?

bad ground i fought that for about 3 weeks once then the whole dam truck quit get a common bus and start running ground wires to stock locations and non stock locations such as.....

Behind #6 valve cover
front clip by batt
lower dash support
gauge cluster
parking brake release (theres a screw there)
bed in 2 spots
under cab in 2 spots

any time someone has a electrical issue thats what we to and recommend works every time

do the one behind #6 that dose ALOT including head lights

i had the same problem and it ended u being stater in my alternator and had a bad ground on the core support. try sanding down paint on ground areas, if this doesnt work yu may have melted a wire or PCM could be bad.

a common buss is this http://www.canadianmarineparts.com/w...es/FS40720.jpg

thats actually the exact one that I have and that I use

on the back of #6 its right behind there on the fire wall you have to look under all the factory insulation and what not its too cold for me to go out and take pics

these trucks only have like 2-4 grounds factory so put as many as you want anywhere you cant over ground

Would 10 guage wire be big enough or should I use bigger wire?
