Depends on where u live. In N. Wisc u can get a perfect 1st gen for 8k, or a nice higher mileage (200k +) 2nd gen. Gettin pretty hard to find a nice 1st gen anymore, especially ext. cab, 94+ are much easier to find

For 8large you should have no trouble finding a clean 1st gen. You might have to travel a bit to get it though. You'll find the cleanest examples, (meaning rust-free) in the Pacific Northwest and the southwest states...
A'course, now someone's going to come along and say they got an absolute minter from Pennsylvania for 3k...

If I do end up with one, what should be the first power mods I should work on? I've read that there are alot of power mods that are basically free on these trucks. I plan on making a sleeper truck that'll hang with the big guys in speed and sled pulling.

I aint kidding... these rich kids with momm and daddys money go out and buy a brand new F-450 king ranch and lift it way too high and put 44s on it. Thousands of dollars get poured under the hood and these kids have no idea what is being done or why or how to drive it .

That's the gospel. Diesel is the new rice. But hey, as a mechanic I love these guys. The more of 'em there is, the more money I make.
