Default cummins in a chevy

Hi guys I dont know if this is the right post for this post but heres what I got

I was wondering If i could take a 87 chevy 1500 and put a 1st gen cummins in it some what easy or is it just going to a pain. I will gladly take any info you guys have to offer

They're all a pain bud! No, If you like to tinker on cars you should't nave a problem, just time and a few $$$. Check out the "diesel conversions" section farther up on the home page, great info on there

Ya look at my post in diesel conversions I'm putting a 93 12v in a 89blazer same body and frame u have 87

installing the motor isn't the problem. it would be the front end holding the weight (it is 1100 lbs) that truck either had a 10 bolt or a 44 the cummins has a gear driven steering pump, so there is no forgivness in the components. you should also beef up the frame around the box. let me tell ya it's a hell of alot better to drive. I would look around for a dana 60 for up front,mine has worked flawless. good luck on your swap

I have a cummins in my 79 chevy U better reinforce the frame mine is twisted pretty good in the rear one side sits a little over 2 inches higher than the other side. I just have a stock 10 bolt front axle no problems in 2 years in the rear I have a disc brake dana 70

hello everyone i have been a member for a while and have just been reading and learning from you guys! I have a 89 suburban i live in sacramento calif. I had the tbi small block. (it was a 406) got tired on not having the torque and towing my 24 ft toyhauler at 7mpg!! I just finisted my 1st gen cummins swap! had to add a leaf in the front boxed in the frame! i got my crossmember and alt and ac brakets from autoworld conversions! there products work great and there cool to deal with! i will try to post some pick up soon! I have about 5400 bucks in it with all the brakets engine adapter for the 400 trans and all the nickle and dime stuff!! sorry if this is in the wrong sec. i just finally decided to open my mouth!!

I put mine in an 89 2500 and still had some adding to do to make it stronger if you could find a 3/4 ton alot of the beef is already there

ya thats what mine is!! I have the th400 and a gear vendor with a full floater 14 bolt rear!!
