i have a 93 auto and the smoke screw turned hard. don't know why but it just did. we turned the smoke screw and no more smoke, but think it is because they have smaller injectors then a 89 or 90. i have a 90 and did those mods to it and it was a heck of a difference.

Unless it`s a non I/C truck smoke is hard to come by stock, the injectors are kinda small @ 6x.009 (emissions, Dodge was trying to tune the smoke OUT). In other words, if you have an I/C truck don`t expect much, when mine still had stock injectors it would make a small puff and max out at around 20lbs...nothing earth shattering. I.C truck and want smoke? get some PODs, those things`ll block out a lane if ya want them to.

They`re injectors made by Lucas for an industrial application. The name POD stands for "Prince of Darkness" which if you know anything about Lucas electronics on old British cars you`ll understand . The old joke goes, "Why do Brits drink warm beer? Because they all have Lucas refrigerators". I have also heard they are called POD because they will lay some serious (if terribly inefficient) smoke. They make decent power for the $$$ but are smoky and hot.

I don`t tow with my setup but I don`t think you`d be too happy towing with pods, I think they get too hot. For towing you might want to look at some 190`s, they are supposedly a good compromise between power/performance and towing ability. Hopefully someone who tows will chime in.

If you tow then POD's will melt the turbo off, get some gauges before you do anything els, then make shure you throttle linkage is opening up all the way, next back out the throttle stop screw, don't worry to much about the star wheel and smoke screw they don't do much for smoke and absolutely nothing for performance, next a 366 spring will help the most for $18.00, if you do much your gona toast your converter, 435 injectors or DDP4"s would be beter for towing, remember smoke = heat and heat and towing do not go together, try to find a used HX 40 turbo or do a 60mm upgrade and a 16cm exaust housing for your stock turbo, by then you will need a better lift pump, ...............you see where this is going don't ya............it's endless and addictive.
