Default Dana 80 questions

I'm going to be doing the swap soon but a couple of things I haven't found an answer for in my reasearch:

1. Does it matter if the rear end is out of a diesel or gas?
2. Manual vs auto truck (donor side)
3. 2wd vs 4wd - can't think of any diffrences but...

Now I know there were some spline count diffrences (32 vs 35?) but why does that matter since its the whole rear end and not just an internal upgrade or am I missing something?

1. No, a (Dodge) V-10 5 speed would be the only "Gas" truck to have an 80.
2. An auto in a Dodge was not offered with a Dana 80.
3. No differences.

The spline count makes no difference if it's a complete unit, but the 37 spline was generally reserved for the Dodge Cab and Chassis.
The '94-'01 Cab and Chassis 1 ton DRUM BRAKE Dana 80 is the NARROWEST D-80 built.

Mark.
