Tach pin on SBEC
I believe the aftermarket tach manufacturers like Isspro and Autometer recognize this plug in their wiring.
The '92-'93 1st gen trucks have the plug taped (or hanging) near the fusebox.
It's a 4 pin flat plug, that is black in color.

Yeah i did some more research and found that you can hook into this pin/plug like you said under the dash.
the OEM factory tachometer plug offers the following:
- 18ga Black = +12vdc for gage lights
- 20ga Orange = 12vdc Common
- 18ga Red = Switched +12vdc
- 20ga Grey w/light blue tracer = Tachometer Signal From PCM
