i could be wrong but it sounds like you are talking about the idler arm, and i have read some where that you can replace it with a adjustable one off a chevy. I thoght about doing that to try to correct my **** poor right hand turning issue, but i think i need to brace the steering box as well to fix it.

no its not an idler arm these are straight axle trucks they dont even use idler arms. from the pitman arm to the knuckle (it sounds like thats what you mean when you say spindle) would be the drag link. its what turns the knuckle when your pitman arm turns. should be about a foot long or so with a tie rod end on each side. sound about right?

Two wheel drive or a four wheel drive?

On a two wheel drive the Pitman arm connects the steering box to the center link, the center link connects to the idler arm and both tie rod ends, the idler arm mounts to the frame, each tie rod end connects to another another tie rod end with a sleeve, and those tie rod ends connect to the steering knuckles.
