I'm replacing all my coolant hoses and i've never replaced the thermostat. How hard is it?? I can see part of it, do I need to take the alternater off to replace it? Any info would be appreciated.

get a cummins replacement, parts store ones will run hot. There is no "gasket" as your used to seeing, just a rubber ring. Make sure the hole is at the top.

Yeah you have to undo the top mount for the alternator and then there is the three bolts that hold the housing. Take those off and pay attention to how they go on exactly so you don't look at all the piece and say "say what the hell". And you should be able to get it done pretty easily.
