thanks a lot guys..this is really the break I've been looking for
..a few more quick questions and I'll start another thread..

1st...my ram is an automatic and I'd really like to convert to a manual..does anyone have the complete set up that they'd be willing to sell or trade?..should I go with a nv4500 over a getrag?

also does lots of white smoke on start up when it's been below 40 degrees outside mean my lift pump has about had it?...thanks again guys-Bob

my truck is terrible for white smoke on cold start but it has 3/4 million miles and the grid heater isnt hooked up cause im to cheap to buy a new sensor for the controller. as for the manual trans, it can be a mess to find all the parts unless u have a good donor vehicle but dont let that discurage u if thats what ur heart is set on. u may however consider a few upgrades to ur auto in the mean time. a good shift kit can do wanders and help keep from burnin up the clutches.

white smoke is typically an injection pump or injector problem.

i converted my automatic to a manual a month ago or so. i had a complete donor vehicle but didnt really use any of it. i bought a brand new master and slave like you should with a new clutch, i bought a new clutch as well. all i used was the transmission and transfer case. you would also need the clutch pedal as well (i didnt because my chevy was originally a stick). but if you could find a trans, transfer case, and clutch pedal, you should be set, as everything else can be found brand new. it can be kinda pricey though

oh ya and i forgot drivelines will need modding, and a new transmission crossmember mount. but thats semi easy stuff

Start one in cold weather without the grid heaters and get back to us on that.

Got my gauges from Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage. I bought the isspro boost psi and pyrometer gauge. They match the interior well. also an autometer dual pillar gauge pod for them. You may also want a tranny temp gauge. The pod they sell for the steering colum will also work for a 91 or newer 1st gen.

Good mod once you get gauges: used/rebuild hx-35 turbo. Stock on 95-2002 rams. Can pick them up really cheap, and they spool fast, build more boost, but keep your egts down on a fairly stock truck.
