Default a518 question

is the bellhousing the same on a gasser and a cummins cause a gasser 518 is way easyer to find then a cummins 518

You don't want a gasser A518 behind your diesel. They're not built as strong (internally) and the main governor is set too high for use with the diesel (shift points way too high).

ok thanks im just having a hard time finding a tranny that is 4x4 to put behind my cummins

im pretty sure theyre different. if i remember correctly i remember hearing that the bellhousing is alot different thats one of the reasons theyre so hard to come by

The V-10 gasser is the same as the diesel right? Atleast from my understanding it is the same.

The V10 is the only gasser transmission that has the same bell housing on it as the Diesel. The one thing you would need to change is the governor. I have herd you need to change the valve body also but I don't know why and some say you need to change the front pump in the transmission but I have looked at some parts books and they say that they are the same. ken
