vacuum 4x4 motor
Ok heres a ? on my 4x4 shift fork.when engaging into 4wheel does it pull the collar toward the tire to engage the outer shaft,or does it pull in over the inner shaft?my 4x4 indicator doesnt work and i dont haver the truck at my house so im just wondering,because its not engaging.

well look at it like this i have a 90, zach has a 91, steve has a 89 and a 92, and one of the guys i work with has a 93, so i got all the first gen years covered between me and the guys i know... now all of them are w250's the 89 is auto an the rest are stick. all of them have lock out hubs. but thats only five trucks, and other then that i haven't really seen any around my area.

Ill bet he has a dana 44,look where it sez "my diesel"on the upper right.It say's "85 Ram Prospector"! The 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks used a vacuum disconect I believe from 85 on, my 84 Ramcharger has auto hubs. You could get a housing out of any 80-84 pu or rc,I think the 74 to 79 housing will work also. 1/2 and 3/4 ton housings are the same. You will also need the drivers side axle shaft. Or just swap in a dana 60 THAT'S what I'd do.

my buddys jeep has that... we just made a space for either side of the shift fork to keep the coller in place... works really well. what axle is in the front of your truck, you may be able to get a solid axle out of a junk yard, that would eliminate the week split axle.
