...progress...
Hey guys,
Just got my truck a few weeks ago. Someone gave me some $$ for my birthday, so I decided to use it to buy gauges.
I got:
Autometer EGT
Autometer 0-60 Boost
Autometer 2 gauge pillar mount
Today, after work and before it got dark I managed to:
Drill and tap manifold and mount EGT probe. The hardest part of that was getting the threads on the probe to mesh with the threads I made. After I got it to line up...no worries.
Tap a source for boost and run the line.
Mount the a-pillar and install both gauges.
It got dark...real dark...so I just hooked up the boost line to the gauge, and ran the wires down to the floor. I put all the 12v power wires together, so I have yet to hook up a 12V+, a ground, and run the EGT wires out to the probe.
So that's my progress. I wish I finished but it was just too dark (not to mention 20 degrees out). I guess that leaves me some fun tomorrow. I'm thinking of just tapping into the switched power and ground for the radio, but still need to think about that one a little bit.
Anyway, just wanted to share.

There's a good writeup...can't remember where I found it, but I think it was cumminsforums or somesuch. Anyway, tells you exactly where to mount the EGT. Although, it was really just do it and get down to business, quite honestly. Nerve wracking, but not too hard! (the tapping, that is).
it isnt too abd at all just go get the thread tap the right size with the right size bit, drill a hole, thread the tap, and mount the probe. just remember NEVER DRILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD!!! there is a cast support piece in the middle, i offset them to towards the firewall with no problems.
as for the gaues they mostly all just take a 12V, a ground (for illumination, sometimes 2 grounds just put them together), and a 12v for the illumination, plus the 2 lines for egt or just a boost line for boost. its self explanitory when you look at them, b=plus all the gauges should have an instruction sheet

Welp, I got both of the gauges mounted and hooked up.
On a pull from a dead stop up to about 80, the highest my EGT got was ~950. My boost was hitting right under 20PSI.
I think it's about time to turn a screw a little more.
