On mine I cut 1 coil off the front spring on a cummins I'd try 3/4 of a coil.(I didn't like the heat idea!) On the rear I flipped the front mount and added 4" to the rear shackle. The pinion angle is crap and wheel hops under acceleration. The axle housing sits way to close to the frame for heavy loads.I would try 2". On my friends 1/2 ton we put the rear axle on top of the springs and used Mopar car 8 3/4 shock plates. The stock shock's worked and we were able to set the pinion angle. The axle is also too close for any load and we are going to notch the frame. These trucks are a 74 and a 87 and have a similar frame and spring design just lighter duty.
