I am looking to change out my gears on my truck so that i can keep my RPM's down and get better gas mileage...? does anyone know what gears would be best for my truck?

tell ya the truth, i could not tell ya. whatever came stock in the '90 dodges. its a 1 ton

Probably got a 4.10 gear set. I'd go with a 3.73 gear set.

if you want to get 'em way down, the trucks with 3spd automatic's (89-90) had 3.07's in them

3.07 and 3.55 in autos and 3.55 and 4.10s in standard were the normal in 91s

It is a 3 speed automatic..... It runs through the gears fairly quickly, and hits 3rd gear before 50mph i believe, so with the RPM's that high, cant possibly be to good for gas mileage.....

there is a guy up the street from me who runs a diesel shop and he put the 3.07 rearend in his rig (3speed auto made in 1990) and hes very happy with it
