Front Drive Shaft
Hey i have a quick question. In 4x4 i get a vibration. If i really get into it the vibration goes away. I looked at my drive shaft and noticed that the joint at the T-case is shot. I don't know the name for it but it is the piece that connects the drive shaft u-joint and the input u-joint for the T-case. What is this called and will this solve my vibration problem. Also it doesnt turn in 4x4 as it should, feels like the drive shaft is binding.
The TCase joint is a double cardan joint. They usually last a long time. Are you sure the play is not with the input shaft on the Tcase?
If that stuff is getting bad and you really get into it enough it will go away for good after it comes apart going down the road.

There is a ball and socket on the tcase side of the front shaft where the 2 ujoints are. If in the past someone ran it with a bad u joint i could have broken the socket part of the knuckle and that will give you a nasty vibration.
let me look in my little blue book and see what i can find
Only time the front of my truck has been touched was when i rebuilt the front end. rear yoke changed once and u-joints changed about 5 times in the rear shaft.
