Jason I have a stock 1st gen replacemant you can have. (if I can find it) its not much better then what you had but it is free.

David on a side note... The one I pulled out of mine looked like this, never seen a solid one... Was this a stocker?

my question is if the center is broken out how can the starter turn the motor over to crank it?

Thats a good thought. I'm hopefully gonna find somethin out first thing in the mornin about what exactly broke. When I do, I'll let you know

Well, looks like its tranny rebuild time. The rebuild kit is 95 dollars, plu the torque converter and whatever else is broken. Book labor on it is 5.6 hrs to take the transmission out and put it back in and 7.3hrs to take out, rebuild, and put it back. Not soundin like to bad a deal so far. Anybody got any insights they could share. IDK nothin about automatic transmissions

Jason you might as well do a performance rebuild while its out...

RSWORDS 12-02-2009 04:15 PM

If I was you I would get a goerend convertor (what I'm running), $650 for a lifetime warrenty bad ass set-up. If not a hughes would not be bad for what you do. Dont get a tranny shop special stock rebuilt convertor, you WILL be sorry. Have the shop put a shift kit in it also, A transgo is about $100. Get some GOOD aftermarket performance clutches, They are not much more!

Benjamin 12-02-2009 05:08 PM

ya do something better than stock.... i wouldn't trust a $95 tire to put the power to the ground.... why would you trust a $95 transmission kit to do the same?

RSWORDS 12-02-2009 07:27 PM

Good point ben!

Here you go Jason, Find you a kit! You dont need all teh crazy had parts but you DO need some red eagle clutches and new bands for that bad boy!

PATC 46RE 47RE 48RE Transmissions, Performance Transmission A518, 518

I think teh k4 kit will work fro your tranny, It has teh cluthes, steels, bands, and shift kit. call them. They are real good guys.

jasonfriedlin 12-02-2009 08:15 PM

That all sounds good and all fellas. But yall forget who you r talkin too. I'm broke, in school, broke, gettin ready to lose my job, and broke, and vehicle less. i gotta have this thing back yesterday and hopefully I'll do the performance build next time when I am out of this shitty situation here. Thanks for all the help fellas :c: :c:

RSWORDS 12-02-2009 08:23 PM

Jason that *$95* rebuild kit will be that much or more by the time he gets in tehre and relizes that the bands and what not are shot.
