anyone know if taking out the spring below the fuel pin will hurt anything

No. Do the same thing by putting your smoke screw all the way down.

not sure. Maybe if you take off the jamb nut it will. Just don't force it to far and screw it up.

Will their be any problems with the pin returning to its full up position?

Not sure Bobby. My 89 smoke screw is pretty well screwed in. Maybe it would not like being in one place forever.
