You can run ATF, motor oil or Synchromesh in it. Synchromesh is best. Whatever you do, DO NOT run a heavy gear oil like your tranny guy is telling you. He doesn't know what he's talking about on this particular subject. Not alot of people are aware of all ins and outs to the G360. That's the main reason they fail: people kill them simply with improper maintenance.

might want to ask the tranny guy if he loaded the bearings properly..... if he got the oil fill type wrong, maybr he missed that too and it will die a premature death.

How come noone's mentioned the 29 spline 205 vs. the 23 spline 205 issue, yet?

Autos (518, 47rh) use a 23 spline input on the np205, as well as a smaller bearing and retainer "bowl", as compared to the 5 speed version, which is a 29 spline input, with a larger bearing and "bowl".
In order to convert a 23 spline to a 29 spline, you need the input, bearing retainer "bowl" and the case needs re-machined.

The splined sleeve between the two np205 cases is obviously different, as well.

Mark.
