Default What tires to use on a dually?

I'm going to need 6 new tires for my truck, and am wondering which tires you guys seem to like.

I don't need an aggressive tire because I only drive on pavement. I've heard good things about Michelin, but what do you guys think?

Thank you.

I know when I get my tires, I'm going with Michelin LTX's.

Do you have a price range, because I was quoted around $1200 for all 6, mounted and balanced, but that may be the norm for a duallie.

1200 for six tires is a good deal, alot of people around here are having luck with mastercraft coursers c/t's they might be too agressive for ya but as long as you rotate them regularly you'll be fine

My brother put a set of these General Tire * The Tires * Original Equipment on his 2003 3500 two years ago and loves them. Smooth and quiet going down the road and a little more bite in the snow and slush than you get with a "highway" tread tire. They are $153.00 a piece at tirerack.com and have a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty.

if you highway drive alot i would recommend a good high mileage large ply 235/85/16, i dont like michelins cause ive always had them dry rot real bad, goodyear makes a pretty decent tire, G947, i run these on the back of my dually and my brother ran them on the back of his, they are great tires.....Goodyear Commercial Truck Tires - G947 RSS Armor MAX Details

Thanks for the links guys.

Another question, do you recommend I run the stock size, or will a taller tire be more beneficial for mpg? I think in the July issue of Diesel Power, they said a taller skinnier tire gives better mpg. Is there any truth to that?

thanks again guys.

your limited to a 235/75/R16 in most dually sizes unless you step up to a 255/85/16 but your tire choice is limited to a select few, i would go with a good heavy ply high pressure tire that is load rated at or over what the factory calls for....

If you tow alot and go with the 235/85 16 tires you may end up needing a 1 inch spacer between the duals. The tire sidewalls will rub together leading to a blowout. If you dont you'll be fine without the spacers. I believe 215/85 16 is OE size on that truck. I have had great success with Toyo tires. I have run Open Country A/T's to 80000 miles and they weren't a racing slick when I replaced them. I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler Revo's and will never use them again.

my goodyears are 12 ply, they dont touch a bit, if you get 10 or 8 ply tire then your asking for problems, you can get the goodyears in 215, 225, and 235......
