Non-intercooled motors are GREAT! Better cams, injection lines and injectors. Worse heads, oil pumps, KSBs and intakes.

The 2nd GEN 12V cams have more duration...Your still right. Non/IC vs IC are great. Fill me in on the oil pumps if you will Begal1.....

I run a non-I/C 89

The stock injectors are HUGE compared to the I/Ced models, I (as well as a few others) think they are good for 400HP with a real good tune, turbo, and supporting mods.

From what I have gathered from people like KTA the I/Ced cam is pretty much the same as a P-Pump cam (not enough to make a difference), they do have a different part number because of the core itself but pretty much the same lift and duration. The non-I/Ced cam is the same as a non-turbo 5.9.

The non-I/C'd cams supposedly have substantially longer intake valve duration; makes sense that'd be desireable in non-turbo applications, but I'd think it'd help power at RPM at the expense of efficiency in any engine. Trying to find any cam specs for Cummins engines is like pulling teeth anyways. These engines were designed from the start for turbocharging, they could be speced out without a turbo for economy in low-horsepower applications. So it's not like the non-I/C cam was a left-over from non-turbocharged days; if anything, it was a compromise that allowed the engine to be ran with or without a turbocharger. Unless you're going for efficiency or emissions, I'm pretty sure that'd be a good thing.

I/C'd oil pumps spin faster, same basic design, maybe the same part number. Apparently I/C'd engines have better oil coolers too.

I've pulled a car and about a ton of cement blocks with my 1990. The engine didn't even notice.

... the brakes did, though....
