Air to Dry Ice Intercooler....
im thinking about building one for my drag truck, 90 dodge D250, it will be a double pass style made out of aluminum.....it will be an aluminum diamond plate box (bought eight 4x8 sheets of diamond plate for $20 a piece) with a removeable top so i can fill it with dry ice, here is a picture i drew of want i want to build, now obviously im going to be using round curved pipe, and have it setting on stands welded inside the box so the ice can go under it and all around it keeping it cool.....the blue is the ice and the gray is the tubes.....the main pipe coming in will be 3 inch, it will wye into dual 3 inch (maybe 2.5) tubes, pass through the cooler, back into a dual 3 inch (maybe 2.5) wye and back into a single 3 inch outlet.....it will be about 6 inches thick, 25 inches wide and 30 inches long.....i may redesign it and use smaller tubing but im not sure yet......what do you guys think???? suggestions, comments....aftermarket air to air aluminum one from most diesel places is 1100-1500 bucks, i can probably make this air to ice one for well under 100 bucks.....

i did some figuring and came up with this (rough guesstimates here people).....the large outter pipe will be around 75 inches long and 3 inches in diameter, that equates to 525 cubic inches of air, the short inner pipe will be about 56 inches long and 3 inches in diameter and that equates to about 400 cubic inches of air.....together that is 925 cubic inches of air space, now for comparative area, a 10 foot long piece of 3 inch pipe hold 850 cubic inches of air......so i should have well more than enough room to not hinder the air flow with whatever the bends cause......i will have about 3 feet between the turbo and the cooler and about 5-6 feet from the cooler to the intake on the head....
also remember those numbers are at atmospheric pressure....the boost will make a big difference.....
