I love the simplicity of my first gen. I love the rough ride, and I love the smell of the interior (a mix of diesel fuel, rust, mold, and old truck in general). I love the way she lopes on a cold morning, and the smell of the diesel exhaust lingering in the cold air. I love that its really the only thing I would have spent that much money on, just for a project truck. I love that first gear is a granny gear, and that I just cannot get the hang of driving it like that, haha.
But, the thing I like most about is the shake that it does when I turn it off.

Say what? The Cobalt and STi turbos are MUCH too small for the truck. My other car is a Cobalt SS turbo (not sure if you were looking at my sig?). If you want a good cheap replacement, the HE351 is a good replacement, or the HX40, or if you have some money to spend, a 62/65/12 would be a good one too. Look around in the forums here, and you will pick up on what is a good turbo for your needs.
Well, the first gen turbo is something like a 54mm, I believe, and when i had the BIG turbo (not stock) on the Cobalt, it was a 55mm. I think the stock one is like a 40 something mm. Only flows up to like 38lbs/min.
The early non-intercooled 1st Gens had the baby H1c w/54mm compressor. 91.5-93 came with a 56mm impeller, stock. It's well matched to the stock setup, no more.
Of course that's the way they designed it - perfectly suited to run well as advertised, right off the assembly line.

I may have just got mine sunday, but i love how i TOUCH the ignition it starts, with no key of course, I love how it has 650,000km on it and still runs like a champ, I love how i pop the hood to my ricer cousin and he said "wheres the wiring? How the f*ck does it run?", I love how the whole truck shakes on shutdown, I love how it looks, I love how its paid for and my dad is still making payments on his cummins, I Love how i can smoke out any lowered ricer i can find
, I love how it sounds when your shiftin gears, Throttle on!, I Love that fact that the motor is the only thing under the hood, I love how simple the truck is, I will love everyones look when i start driving it to school rollin the coal
, I will love how all the girls will want rides in the "big truck", I love how i can make 100hp for so little money and run faster than a car 1/3 of my trucks weight, I love how it chugs along and bounces and rattles. I think that does it for me.
