I love that it's paid for..;-)
I bought the '91 in '91 just for the Cummins.
But I also love having batwings.
Not sure what year they discontinued batwings from all trucks. My '95 doesn't have them so obviously Dodge did away with them in '94. Not sure about Ford or Chevy.

How it looks and how it has never left me stranded on the side of the road. Also the cheap aftermarket parts and how easy it is to work on.

Mine was bought new by my favorite uncle. He then sold it to my dad. My dad gave it to me for starting up my cattle operation. Love the simplicity and the looks. Keeping it in the family for years to come.

I love the unstoppable dash squeak, as well as the lack of sheet metal bracing which led to my entire top looking like the surface of the moon!

i had nothing but issues with my first gen.. wheele bearings, brakes, randomly running light cab lights dash lights and back up lights stopped working, real sloppy driving, fuel leaks, over heating, GUTLESS once it was hooked on to a trailer.. got so hot there was litterally flames shooting out of it, just a bad chasis design i think... ill stick the the f series body style they ride good tow good are comphy, roomy just love them! happy to say my first gen is gone.. you can bearly get any power out of those fuel pumps to begin with

Sounds more like you got an abused one. You'd expect to fix things on a 20+ year old truck, right? Every thing you mentioned is normal wear with any vehicle. Wheel bearings, brakes, sloppy driving, leaks, all normal wear. Wiring problems, was it hacked?Overheating, was it stock or modded? What was the condition of the radiator?
First gens aren't gutless at all, they're like the classic hot rods of diesel trucks. You can get a lot of power out of the stock IPs. At least you still have a Cummins, shame its got a Ferd wrapped around it.
