Hey guys so I bought my first dodge D250 3 weeks ago and I started to look at my oil gauge on my cluster and I was seeing that my oil pressure was dropping it would rise up a bit and drop down again. The engine has 300k already and runs great but the low oil pressure concerns me can you please help.

 

Is the oil pressure dropping once the truck is warm cause mine cold at idle is like 50 psi and warm its more around 30 if I remember right

 

Yea man, at first when I start her up its ok but when she's warmed up she'll start dropping the oil pressure

 

Sounds like your oil pump is on its way out.

 

I would hook up an oil pressure gauge on top of the filter housing using the small 1/4 inch plug hole just to see what your real pressure drop is! I have seen bad oil sending units, but it is hard to say if you are not familiar with the engine history ! Change the oil and filter and recheck with the external gauge ! Good luck !
