Default Large Secondary Cable

Hi everyone.

First of all THANK YOU to all of you that post so much useful information on here. I have been combing these boards for months learning TONS of information. This is my first post. I'm hoping you can help me with an odd question.

I have a 1993 Cummins W350 Dually, auto. LOVE the truck, it was my grandfather's, I plan on fully restoring it, once I finished some much needed maintenance.

Next to my positive battery post, alongside the positive cable, is ANOTHER really thick cable, red, that dangles down the driver's side of the engine block and grounds to the block near the bottom. It has been disconnected from ...something... and swings freely. What was it connected to, should I remove it?

Any ideas?

Thank for any help you can provide.
