I have a 92 d250 and have been reading every thread on just about every diesel forum I can find about H1 wheels. I like the look of them stock so I was thinking...could I swap in DRW front hubs to basicly make up for the backspacing on the wheel and run spacers on the back? I figure 7" BS minus the 4" HUB is basicly like recentering to 3" BS give or take? Any help would be great

 

I think this is a better option than running spacers, albeit perhaps more expensive.
There may be cheaper ones/used ones available, but these ones are the standard.

I wouldn't run 7" spacers in the rear. I would look into running a dually rear axle without the dually adapters and front dually adapters if you want to run standard backspaced H1 wheels. Dually rears are wider I believe but I'm not sure by how much.

 

I was never gonna run 7" spacers haha im not that crazy. 4" max since I dont really haul alot. Mostly my daily driver and play truck. I just like the look of h1 wheels that are not recentered. I have a "buddy" that can hook me up with 24bolts with tires for free .99 and im just wanting to swap the front end. To d350 hardware

 

you do realize that wheel is not a really good on road wheel there a Pain to ballance and the only thing that keep's air in the tire is a rubber O ring . plus you have to remove up to 24 bolt's just to get wheel apart . there are several places out there that recenter them but IMO there garbage . Just find a reg 16.5 wheel and run the humvee tires .

 

My buddy runs H1 tires/wheels on his 2nd gen. He went with 2" spacers on all 4 corners.

I'm going to a Dana 80 in my W250, which is wider. I also got 2" spacers for the front. I will be running 3rd gen wheels (6" backspace) and maybe H1's later.

 

the Junk Humvee wheel's are Not DOT approved for the road besides the only thing that keep's air in the tire is a rubber O ring No Thank's

 

The ones my buddy has are 24 bolt and have the DOT stamp. They've held air without issue for the year or so he's had them.

 

The only thing that holds the air in any tire is a thin rubber membrane that relies on pressure to seat the bead. So what? The o ring is captured and I'd say the chance of failure is almost non existent. It acts like a gasket. As far as balancing them, balance beads work well.

And they are DOT approved.
