Default Looking at getting a 1 St gen. problem tho

I'm lookin at pickin up a 89 d250. For only 2500 bucks it's a good deal but the front suspension is shot. The seller says it just wobbles at certain speeds, he uses it as a daily driver tho so it can't be too bad. What would anyone recommend to so about fixin it? Could I just pull the front suspension off another 89 or would it be better in the long run to just put after market on it ? Also any pointers to look for when buying a 1st gen

Auto or Manual? Is the suspension the only "major" thing wrong?

Ya seems to be. It has a new injection pump and a vacuum pump well doesn't have ac or heat but that isn't a concern to me.

Just rebuild the front end. Unless the A frames are worn through it's just bushings and ball joints. A whole lot easier job than doing king pins on a 4X4.

+1

Check the steering links and idler arm for play. All cheap stuff to replace.

I have 0 experience with trucks mechanic

al wise. IV worked on bobcat front loaders and mini track hoes but never trucks. Are 1st gens hard for beginners ? Both suspension and motor wise i.e tinkering with the VE pump and all. And I do know a lot about 12 valves as far as upgrades and pump tweaking just never been hands on with one

You could handle it, it's all easy old technology.. get you a manual if you're that worried about it.

Iv been looking at the sticky thread and found some good videos so hopefully I'll be alright . It'll be my only vehicle so whatever I do it'll have to be done quick. I'm always working and never have personal time so I couldn't take on any high time projects just yet

You could do what I did and rip the motor out ans put if in a Ford. Great running gear, more can room and a fairly easy project if you're mechanically inclined. I've done 3 now and can have them back on the road in 2 days.

Funny you said that cause my original plan for this truck is to fully restore it some with me doing the work and some with a shop, then I'll be getting a 7.3 to restore next. Undecided on a obs or 99 and up
