Default rear axle swap

My bros w250 rear axle is popping with a ton of backlash so its time to rebuild but since we aren't axle specialist the Ideal situation would be to swap it. I cant find anyone that's parting a 93 dodge out in Colorado. Can I put a second gen axle in, do they have the same gear ratios his is 3:54 I believe, defiantly not 4:10 like mine. Also if anybody has a good wright on rebuilding differentials up I would like to see it. Also I know there are some people that have done this swap and I know its posible I just dont know how big of a PITA it is and whats involved if its easy Ill go that route

Here is a start.
Found some Dana literature... - Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource Forums
IIRC, there is a slight difference in spring saddle width. One person commented it wasn't enough to make a difference. IDK, that is something that would always bug me. Also it uses different wheels, so if you do convert the front hubs too.
