Truck won't start

Default Truck won't start

I have a 93 cummins and I shut it off and when I tried turning it back on it wouldn't start. So I had my friend give me a jump and it started right up and then a minute later it just shuts off. I have no power to anything and I just replaced the battery in it. So could this be a bad alternator or lift pump or even a fuel pump? I'm stuck. Thanks for any advice

Make sure you are getting 12v to the Cutoff solenoid on the Injection pump With the key on (0v with key off)

Yes check to make sure you are getting power to your Fuel Shutoff Solenoid. Mine has been acting silly like that lately, basically I'll go to start it up and normally one bump of they key boom its started. But if I loose good ground to the FSS it'll just crank.

If your battery is discharging, would cause this, also the fss. If it starts and then it dies, with your loosing voltage, Could be the IP, could be a bunch of things. Check the FSS 1st. Hows the Fuel filter?

the fuel filter is fine as far as I know. Its my friends truck so im just trying to help him out. and ill have to check the fss. Thanks guys

check your voltage regulator...... that would be my first guess. those things dont last too long anyway.

Yep! And always carry a spare regulator, a roll of wire, some electrical tape, bailing wire, a small tool kit and your set to run coast to coast!
