Default VE rebuild

Does anyone know if a good shop to get a VE rebuilt at. i have a 90 that I purchased and the previous owner hooked up a high pressure pump and blew the seals out of the inj. pump. Or is there a kit an is it hard to do your self.

Thanks

If its just the AFC gasket, etc. its easy to replace gaskets, if it needs a complete rebuild, much more complicated.

Excessive inlet fuel pressure can blow the main input-shaft seal. Happens often. No big whoop. (Once the new seal is installed, some extra protection can be had by applying some GREEN thread-locker. See red arrow).

The AFC has no gaskets. There is however, a small O-ring that seals the needle that rides the cone (what we call the fuel-pin). It leaks more often due to one using a fuel-pin that's cut too deep allowing the needle to over-extend, and get past the O-ring.

The AFC cover has no gaskets, uh WTF?

I'd hate to have trying to follow your instructions on how to change out the Gov. Spring then.

The only penetration into the AFC that could pass fuel is for the Guide-Pin (part #4). The Guide-Pin is sealed with an O-ring.

I can write a decent "How-To" I reckon.

It's my understanding that to date, no one has been able to make that combination work, and last more than some minutes.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

There is an O-ring seal not a gasket

Also hear the same BC847 about the 14mm pump. Have been told driveability is all but gone. Would do a P pump conversion before messing with a ve anymore. More options with ppumps also.

Actually, that is also wrong.
The diaphragm actually seals the AFC cover to the housing.

As far as BC847 not knowing his VEs...

Mark.
