Let put it this way.....If I were you, I would re-position the probe to the Pre-turbo side and be done with it. Beats the hell out of stressing over it when you mash the throttle or tow. You will get more accurate and true EGTs AND, good peace of mind. You dont have to "do the math" when youre out goofing around with your rig.

go buy a plug at NAPA for it... or have it welded shut. But since your post turbo your actually several hundred degrees off I beliebe more like 100-200* when you are monitoring EGTS you wathing out for your turbo so you dont cook it.

Since you have the probe post turbo, its already threaded for a plug. The size will be 1/8 npt plug. That will screw right in and seal it. The plug can be brass or steel. No need to weld it unless you want to, as another option.

I don't know about y'all's but, my ISSPRO pyrometer has, in addition to the temp numbers, a green/yellow/red color scheme that corresponds to safe post-turbo temps, and the probe is installed in the down-elbow. Has worked nicely for over 10 years. If he's got the quickie-glance colors, it might be handier. Unless you're truly intending to figure out, document, and defeat "the ragged edge", and "push the envelope", and set some records, you don't need to treat this as rocket-science. And, if you are, get some damn corporate sponsorship so you can afford the $$$ that go with broken-parts braggin' rights.

And FYI, to drill into your exhaust manifold and tap is a piece of cake. When I did mine, I started the engine, drilled slowly, and once through, the exhaust pressure coming out of the hole blew out the metal shavings. As I tapped the hole, I left the engine running and slowly tapped the hole. The small metal shavings were also being blown out. I had no issues whatsoever. I was too lazy to take the manifold and turbo off. Thats another option tho.

1/8"npt plug will do it. The plug is about a buck or less at your local hardware store. You can PM me if you have any issues.
