Default Odometer Repair Not Working

Hi, I recently replaced both gears in my odometer trying to fix it. I also tried replacing all twelve bulbs in the instrument cluster. By the way, don't try the Napa or Kragen replacement bulbs because the plastic base won't screw into the cluster. After putting everything back together, I took it for a drive and got it to add a mile to the odometer and 9 tenths to the trip odometer. After that both stopped turning. I am wondering what would cause this. Could the gear be misaligned? I also put three drops of super glue on the larger gear but no lubricant which I guess could cause a problem. Thanks for any ideas.

Today I took it apart and saw that a piece of blue plastic from the old gear jammed the new one. With a very small screw driver I cleaned all of the blue plastic out of the three pegs that hold the large gear on and then shot both gears with silicone. This seems to have worked and the odometer is turning now.

Where did you get the gears to fix it? My odometer and speedometer quit working.

I got the gears from Odometer Repair-Chrysler Odometer Gear-Speedometer Gear

However, your issue seems more like the vss because both the odometer and speedometer stopped working. My truck's small gear was blown to bits but the speedometer has always worked.

Hmmm. Well I guess the odometer gears are the cheapest place to start anyway. Diesel Truck Resource has a fairly thorough article about replacing the gears on their wiki. Its not hard just be patient, especially when trying to put on the new gear.
