Default safe without gauges?

I was talkin to the guy i bought my truck from. He said he turned the starwheel 3 turns dow, put the stock fuel pin close to the deepest part, and smoke screw all the way in. I was wondering if i could get by for a week without gauges till i get my paycheck from my new job. I dont beat it's eye ***** out and im just driving empty a to b.

From your description, all he's done is make it smokey by screwing around with the AFC.

Lacking him turning in the main fuel-screw, you should be just fine till you get an EGT gauge.

If it were my truck, I'd fix the ill-adjusted AFC ASAP.

Take off the AFC housing. Turn the star wheel up a couple turns and turn the smoke screw out till it's about flush with the the housing.
