1990 cummins wont crank
Hi all, newbie here. I have a 1990 Dodge D250 standard cab that I bought new in Sept. of 89. Currently has 286,000 thou on it and till now has been stone dead reliable. Currently has key on no start. Replaced the starter/solenoid,starter relay, new optima battery, both new battery cables. Still nothing. I have a new ignition switch coming today from NAPA. It will crank by jumping the starter terminals. Turning the key to start gets no juice at the small terminal and since I replaced everything else I can only hope its the ignition switch. Anyone know of anything else in the cranking system I could have missed? Thanks, Rich

I had a buddy that had the same problem so he changed the ignition switch and it didnt fix it so he ask me to look at it and I went straight to the fuseable links and that was the problem so when I had my first gen and got an electrical problem that where I looked first.I might not be the problem but its a good place to start and make sure you look at them good because they dont always look bad.Good luck

Dodge wont start
Found it. Two problems actually. One is the hard plastic three prong connector on the neutral safety switch, which is an intermittent problem. I cleaned it and resnapped it in place but it's an iffy connection. Will be redone next weekend. The other was the shift linkage is a little loose but adjustable (286,000 mi.) Wouldn't go completely in park and combine that with the other problem and was very puzzling. So for now it starts fine and I'll fix the ns swiitch next weekend. Thanks all for your reply. Rich
