I run a custom Suncoast unit and don't run a billet flexplate. I've never heard that one is required for the Suncoast NON lock-up converter either. Ernie (Suncoast Dodge converter guru) would have said so.

And your flexplate isn't a weak link at your power level.

I run a 46RH case with a 48RE rotating assembly. It eventually became a 48RE rotating assembly with all billet/alloy shafts as I broke them one at a time over a couple of years.
-> Still running the same stamped (SFI rated) flexplate through it all. No issues.

- No, it's an aftermarket flexplate. Can't remember whos (sorry).

One can see the difference in thickness (as comparted the stock/OEM)

- I'm north of 450whp.

- Look at it again: "*89-93 requires a Sun Coast billet cover converter." That means the stock cover-plate of the converter won't fit. That converter Suncoast offers, has a billet cover-plate.

In the following image, you can see the stock/OEM converter on the left, the Suncoast unit on the right. Note the difference in the cover-plates: Stock/OEM = Stamped-Steel. Suncoast = Machined billet steel.

Go here: PATC 46RE 47RE 48RE Transmissions, Performance Transmission A518, 518

Give it a minute or two to load the page (LOTS of parts).

Scroll down perhaps 1/4th of the way and look at part number #58PFP

So both 56bfp an 58pfp will fit a stock converter no issues correct? I just wanna cover the bases so when I get the cash Im not in second guessing the parts.
Also does sun coast makes a non lockup converter for the 46rh?

Nevermind found the Suncoast converter...so with that I could run the Suncoast billet flexplate? Build im based off of is just shy of 500s but Ill have bigger injectors an bigger turbo then the base one Im using. Thanks for the help with the issue an helpin me clear the air on this issue.

At the end of the day, if you're gonna run the Suncoast product, I'd call Suncoast and speak to Ernie. He will tell you what you need to accomplish your goals. He's helped me tremendously with technical aspects of my trans build. Knows the trans and will not steer you toward stuff you don't need.

Care to share details of your build? I'm just shy of 500rwhp and am always looking a couple more.
