Default cummins teardown

Im picking up my 1990 cummins for my ford swap this payday, I am taking head to get machine work but upovoly it only has 80k on it, my question is when I have it all tore down can I micke. The rings to see if they need replaced? If so when I put new rings on if it needs them do I do the same 45 degree ratio as gas engine?

Just replace them tolerance for rings and piston to cylinder on these is very tight. And they go 120*

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

So put the bottom ring with the gap forward and each one that goes on top do 120 degrees clockwise from that one
