my truck started squeaking the other day and i lent my truck to my brother and he ended up putting WD-40 on the belt to get it to stop squeaking but then i think he got into the alternator also because it was still charging fine until i shut the truck off for a half hour and now it only charges when im W.O.T or holding high rev

 

Sounds like belt slipping.

 

yeah u got a slickery belt wd-40? put a new belt on her 35 -40 bucks and leave the wd-40 on the shelf i promise your belt is not gonna rust

 

If you want my recommendation I highly recommend going with a Gatorback belt. They are expensive but they don't slip and they have no slipping when it counts which to me is during the rain when the belt can get wet from standing water on the road at 55.

 

Alternator is prolly bad, when under load it is almost locking up, sounds like to me, have it tested, take it off and take it to O'Reilly's. Mine totally locked up the electric test motor it was so bad when under a test load.

no belt wasnt slipping i replaced the belt with gator back and it still didnt charge but turned out to be a bad pcm voltage regulator so i wired up an external and the bi*ch runs mint and charges
