Default Turbo lag

What can I do to reduce turbo lag? Would injectors help?

Another question, if I have the star wheel turned up with stock injectors and go to 75 hp injectors, will I notice a difference? And do I need to do any pump work or anything with 75 hp injectors?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And Also is 75 hp injectors actually considered 45 hp injectors in a 5 speed because the of the different sizes from the factory?

i recommend getting the hp# injectors out of your head and know what size you want to run or already have. 5x.012's , 18, 7x.010's ect your 97 should have 5x.01025's (i think)

what turbo are you running? cant get much faster than a 58mm wheel

you could loose the massive tires but then your truck wouldnt look nearly as sick, flip side of that what size gears are you running? that will be a huge deciding factor on when your engines power makes its presence known. 40's with 3.54 gears would be a nightmare to drive. i would highly recommend 4.56's. your engine will be able to get the power to the ground instead of loosing it through the driveline. it will smoke less and boost seconds faster because it isnt working as freakin hard to get itself going.

I wish I knew the gearing in the truck, ill jack it up and check it one of these days. I know gearing would affect a lot, but I don't have the time, money, or patience of setting up ring and pinions at the moment. Maybe over the winter. I gotta do my homework on that too. Anyway, I'm looking to run 5x.012 injectors.

I do understand the truck is no race car, but a kid in town has a chevy 6.5 on 35's, and every time we have at it, he has me by a hair and I'm getting sick of it. Injectors are something I've been wanting to do so I feel it's time..

gears will change the outcome. i would but lots of money on you have 3.54 gears. which are killing all aspecs of your performance. it would be cheapest to find a set of axles with the stock 4.10's in them. hell many people are willing to trade for the 3.54's because the do so much better on the highway with stock tires. 4.10's will help but to me its just a bandaid. you need 4.56's. anything you really do powerwise for the engine at this point is almost a waste because you will be loosing it through the driveline. you u joints will start exploding with more power from the engine without a way to get the power to the ground. gears should be your very next mod it is the sole thing that is killing you!!!!

oh and if there isnt a tag on the axle pop the cover off and normally the ratio is stamped on the ring gear. if not gount the teeth on the ring then pinion and divide.

do you or one of your buddys have a set of stock wheels and tires to set it on and take a joy ride in it with? try that see what the difference is and how you like it before you spend the coin on gears or injectors or whatever you have planned. i think you will be delighted that you can melt 31's off.

Another way to check gearing is jack the rear end off the ground. Put truck in neutral. Mark the yoke and mark the tire. Have a buddy spin the wheel why you watch the yoke. Have him make one full rotation, while u watch the yoke. If it only makes 3.5 turns u have 3.55, just over 4 turns u have 4.11s ect
