I am going to have to change the engine out in my 95. It started knocking the other day, I pulled the head today, I guess it spun a bearing cause #5 piston was hittng the head and you can twist it back and forth.

My questioin is do you have to run the heat exchanger. I think the purpose is the get the fluid temp up quicker. I found a motor from a 5 speed and was thinking I wold just leave it off when I change out the motors. Will it be ok or will it cause a problem with the trans. Trans has just been rebuilt.

 

No problems with mine... I have a BD trans cooler heat exchanger is MIA. U DO NOT NEED IT

 

newby here, i have a 96 and 2 99's with autos and wondering if that thing was needed.. thought about using it to heat wvo. any thoughts?

 

IT would work for that, and trannys are a lot happier without it.

 

Should be ok without it
