If your truck idles at around 1k, your idle too high first off. Stock idle is around 750. Although mine idles about 500 for lope(:

And just wondering, have you rotated your barrels?

Ive heard of people rotating their barrels but idk what it is to be honest with ya haha. Well the reason i have it at 1k is cuz it got to doing that fluctuation and it would go too low and die so i turned the idle up a little.

Sounds like a possible governor issue or the linkage is controlling the idle instead of the idle stop.

I just turned it back down to 800. It seems to be doing fine. Its still throwing te check engine light. How do you fix a governor issue such as what your referring to, what could go bad?

If idle is ok governors generally wont cause a "hang". Also if governors hang the pedal feels normal. I think you should rebuild the linkage.

Aparently not! Some people just have to learn the hard way. Governor will hang with to much pressure on springs or too many shims.
