Pump timing for $200
Why get a Fleebay special when you can have Snapon for the same money?
SP500, Set, Diesel Timing Gauge
SP500, Set, Diesel Timing Gauge
way better than that ebay crap plus it comes with a lifetime warranty
Buy the kit and do it yourself. Blue Point is the way to go as mentioned above. It's the same price as it would cost to have a shop do it, but you gain knowledge of your engine and you have an unlimited amount of timing in your future.
I take back what I said. I looked at the blue point one I use and the dial indicator says made in the USA
I spoke to the snap on truck driver last time he came to my job site. He would have to order it but I would still get it faster than eBay living in alaska and all. Every time I use eBay it takes 2-3 weeks
American Made, along with a lifetime warranty from a great company such as Blue Point and a proven product; I see only one way to go. I'm more than happy with my timing kit from Blue Point.
before i became a dumb tow truck driver i bought Mac stuff over snapon because snapon dealer here was a ****. plus he marked everything up more then other snapon dealers. i have the same cheap wrenches and cheap sockets (mastercraft canadian tire and husky) i bought ten years ago and used them every day for years. just couldnt justify $400 for a rail of impact sockets when i can get them for $40. mac/snapon do have the little edges on sockets/wrenches that grip better though.
actually i remember an apprentice leaving a rail of 3/8 deep chrome snappy's on the cowl of a freightliner fld-120. im sure he paid an arm and a leg for them. driver got on the highway and they went flying. the only socket the poor bastard got back came back with a tire man jammed in a flat drive tire!
best tools i ever bought were mac hose pliers that pinch off heater hoses and stuff, and knipex cobra waterpump pliers (friggin amazing, make channel lock look like garbage, clamped little 8" ones on a steel tube and i could hang on them without them slipping bought them after i watched a guy take a fitting out of a crusty old steering box)
also kline side cutters that were for hardened steel will cut 1/8 machine screw!!
