felpro headgasket and head bolts
I installed a Kumar bros gasket and ARP studs a month ago and its spitting coolant out by the temp sender. The original gasket was seeping out the front. I checked the torque and they're at the 125#'s ARP recommends.
Fel-pro has a improved design and old design available at my local parts store. I had them order the new design one in so I could look at it. If it looks good that's what I think I'll use. @ $51 I think if Fel-pro supplies cummins then it should be good.

Pulling the head is way too much work to gamble on a $75.00 savings. You might as well go ahead an oring the head since it's off. If you are on a tight budget and want to do studs later You can go ahead and bottom tap your head bolt threads now. That will make the swap a lot easier .
I'm not having any issue with the gaskets fire ring. It's spitting coolant out. I'll know a lot more once I pull the head off. I haven't opened the fel pro gasket yet but looking at the you tube video I'm confused as to why the cummins one is so much better.
I already have ARP studs in it. Any input on torqueing them to 150# rather than ARP's suggested 125#?
I'll have to check into the o-ringing.

The kumar gasket slid and tore. I lowered the head with a cherry picker so I don't think I hit it. However I'm not going to say it's not possible.
The rtv lines on the Fel-Pro are twice as wide. The Fel-Pro is also of better quality (holes lining up)
Time to go buy a Cummins gasket. I'm anxious to see the difference.
I put pics on my build thread in 4BTswaps. They are too big of a file for here and I suck with computers.

The Cummins head gasket is made of a.stronger material than the others....... I ha e put many side by side along with a blind test with other mechanics and no one has bee able to tell the difference , That being said, the engines were buttoned up and the oem Hg is still running and the other ........ well it tossed a rod out the side and is no longer with us .... You may get lucky for a bit .... but is it really worth finding out who's right ?

..... just use the Gaskets from the company that knows these Engines the best .....
