transmission 47re
My transmission goes from o/d to drive w a firm downshift and sometimes shifts back up into o/d and goes back and forth between gears.. but only happens when I let off the gas for an extended amount of time like down hill... any ideas?? Anything to be worried about its a new transmission....

Depends on where you get it. Anywhere from $150-250 is normal. I'd make sure it's the problem first though. I had an issue that sounds the same, and cleared it up by following along with this little how to. Scroll down to "throttle position sensor adjustment and cleaning": Dodge diesel maintenance tips
If the TPS is bad and you're unable to dial it back in, you can delete it for about $40. I forget where, but I'll hunt around for it.

Here's the delete I've found. There may be others, but this is the first one I came across:

For the money, IMO it's worth doing even if your TPS isn't screwed up, but that's just me. The school of thought "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is popular for good reason as well. I'd say test it and make sure it's your problem first either way though.

It essentially replaces your throttle position sensor with a potentiometer, and gives you a control **** in the cabin to dial in your overdrive engagement to be where you want it. Since many shift issues are caused by a bad PTS, this can kill two birds with one stone. The adjustability is nice whether your PTS was working right or not, and eliminates it if is wasn't.
