Anyone heard of an allison swap?
They're not the best for light duty applications.
6 speeds in the 06 LLY, 06-07 LBZ, 07-10 LMM and 11+ LML's.
The 5 speeds are probably the easiest to swap in. Everything can be bought and thrown in. Adapter and controller.
The 6 speeds are a bit different. The 06 6 speed from the Duramax has a good computer to use as it doesn't use GM's new bus system between computers so you can use the tap shift without the need of having the BCM. Although the 06 6 speed, the internals are a tad weaker than the 07+ 6 speeds.
The 07+ 6 speed you can custom wire the TCM to work using a CAT TPS. Then you will just need EFI Live to modify the shift points and get rid of the torque management.
There is a whole thread on the swap over at 4btswaps.
