Truck won't pass?
My brother has a '95 Dodge one dually with a 12-valve, and it is having a problem. It is an automatic transmission. When you are on the highway trying to pass someone, you can floor it and it gains speed like it should, but when you hit about 55 or 60, it will shift up and give you about another 5 miles per hour, and then the rpm's get back up to nearly 2500, and acts like it is straining like it's pulling a trailer up a hill when it's riding empty on a level highway. But when you set the cruise at 60, it will start gaining speed slowly and hit nearly 90 unless you stop it. What causes this?

Has the throttle linkage recall been done to the truck if not have it done and see what happens then they should replace linkage ends ball studs and throttle cable. Reset idle then they should check voltage at tsp @ idle should be 1.0v +or- .2 volts and 3.8-4.2 volts at wot. Just hope u don't have the same prob I am having with the dealer that did mine just got the mechanic introuble for not doing it properly and then lieing to my face now the dealer is having to fix properly and pay for the diagnose's to another mechanic for trying to screw me if they don't pay that bill I'll be seeing them in fed court

I do not know if the throttle linkage reacall was done. We have had it almost three years and never did that, but it's almost 17 years old, so it may or may not have been replaced.

Its most likely caused by faulty throttle linkage, a throttle valve cable adjustment or a bad tps. A tech that knows these trucks should have no issue diagnosing and repairing any of these items fairly quickly. Suncoast had a good document about adjusting the throttle valve and if you considering doing the repair yourself it would be wise to replace all the bushings, the bell crank, and b15 recall.
